Chicago Burlesque Classes | In the Works Wednesdays w/ Po'Chop December 18 | 7-8:30 pm (CST) VIRTUAL ONLY As a recipient of over $100K in grant funds to support their burlesque and drag practice, Po'Chop shares invaluable insights in this workshop. From crafting a compelling project narrative to selecting and framing your work samples, Po'Chop draws from their experience as both a grant recipient and reviewer. Gain actionable strategies for finding, applying to, and winning both local and federal funding. Let’s get this schmoney! Access to the recording of this class will be made available. Scholarships Available: Two scholarship slots per class are reserved for Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and Queer individuals facing financial barriers. Apply at www.houseofthelorde.com/scholarship. ABOUT PO'CHOP Chicago-based burlesque artist Jenn Freeman, known as Po'Chop, blends dance, storytelling, and striptease to create powerful performances. As the creator of The Brown Pages blogzine, Po'Chop has performed at prestigious venues such as the Brooklyn Museum and headlined shows across the country. She’s also a Board Member and Cast Member for Jeezy’s Juke Joint, an all-Black burlesque revue. Po'Chop has appeared in Netflix’s Easy, music videos for Jamila Woods and Mykele Deville, and experimental dance films like LITANY. A 2022 United States Artist Fellow, Po'Chop has received numerous accolades, including a 2021 Foundation of Contemporary Art Grant for Artists and a 2019-2020 Urban Bush Women Choreographic Fellowship.
